For companies, the recruitment market is essentially binary – either pay a recruitment agency to source candidates or organise and administer the campaign yourself. The first option can be very costly, but if run efficiently will not eat up great swathes of your time; the second option is easier to maintain financial control over, but will require you or the manager hiring to expend time writing and placing adverts, reading the CVs and contacting the candidates, both suitable and not suitable.  In many ways, the service I am offering could be seen as akin to bringing in a marketing, H&S or IT consultant, an external resource for a specific project where the skills are not available in-house. At its most basic level, I will free up time in the process, and in return you get the knowledge and experience of someone who has spent 30 years recruiting at all levels of seniority and across all disciplines.  You will still pay for advertisements and I charge for the time I spend on each assignment, rather than a finders’ fee. Obviously this means it is a little bit more expensive than if you were running the assignment yourself, but early indications are that following this approach will save between 75 and 85% of standard recruitment fees, and you get a wider net cast in the search for candidates as I will augment any advertising with networking and CV searches.  My assignments range from supporting Managing Directors of small SMEs, on whose shoulders the recruitment process would otherwise fall as they have no dedicated HR resource, to providing support to line managers, HR functions or existing Talent Acquisition teams in organisations of any size, including the not for profit sector. The approach is best described as modular, as I can be involved at any point in the process. It might merely be writing and placing the adverts, or sifting through the CVs, or just the administration of acknowledging every application and inviting the appropriate candidates to interview.  In short, I can offer as much or as little support as you want.
