With over 35 years of experience in Reliability, Asset Management, and Industry 4.0, Mike Burrows has been a leader in industrial innovation. As Managing Director of Monition (2002-2019), Mike helped establish the company as a leader in Condition Monitoring, Plant Reliability, and Process Improvement, guiding its acquisition by Electrocomponents in 2019.Following the acquisition, Mike was retained by RS Group as Senior Advisor for Innovation Futures, focusing on emerging technologies such as AI and Industry 4.0. He led key projects, including a UK government-funded initiative developing robotic inspection systems for hazardous environments. His work with AI included creating proof of concept (POC) applications utilizing cutting-edge technologies like GPT models, alongside advising the UK Government Advisory Group on robotics and AI.Mike's career began as an Electrical Engineer in the mining industry, where he developed and implemented computerized delivery systems. He has since gained deep expertise in Change & Process Management during his time as a Specialist for Emerson, working across the US and MENA regions.Over the years, Mike has worked extensively with high-profile clients. Notable projects include a secondment to Ford Motor Company, where he led the development and implementation of Ford’s Manufacturing Quality Standard, and work with British Steel, Proctor & Gamble, and GSK. Mike partnered with GSK on global Energy Loss Surveys, identifying CO2 reduction and cost-saving opportunities across multiple sites.In research and academia, Mike has been a Principal Investigator and Project Manager for UK government and European-funded projects on Industry 4.0, maintenance, and AI since 1994.
