Manage 1 Auditor, 7 Analysts and 1 Assistant who prepare and file over 23,000 returns annually.Serve as point person for 19 clients and over 22 individual entities. Manage a staff of 3 supervisors who review and approve tax returns prepared by compliance analysts. Serve as the Department Implementation Manager. Coordinate efforts with Tax Directors for all newly signed clients to make sure informational need for the outsourcing engagement are successfully met by both parties. Act as a liaison between all treasury departments to make sure all applicable bank accounts are established on a timelybasis and that a funding procedure is agreed upon. Responsible for writing the interface between the client’sdata (ERP System) and the in-house compliance software system. Perform parallel tests to ensure tax software produces results consistent client expectations. Prepare returns for a period of 2-3 months to ensure all potential issues have been addressed. Train compliance analyst to transition business processes and procedures into monthly workflow. Established new client referrals and contracts for other DMA divisions during deliverable consultation.

Managed a staff of 4 analysts who filed tax returns in a multijurisdictional environment. Responsible for reviewing and signing approximately 20,000 transactional tax returns on an annual basis. Directly responsible for the accuracy and payment of over $20 million in transactional tax returns/payments on a monthly basis. Compiled monthly revenue and error rate reports for management which were used to determine efficiency gains and hiring needs. Served as a resource to analysts in addressing irregular or complex tax or notice issues. Responsible for understanding the contract for each client assigned to the team (between 10-15 different clients at any given time). Worked with each analyst to ensure all aspects of the contract were adhered to and that all deadlines were met. Initiated client billings for compliance services on a monthly basis based off of contract stipulations and the timing of client data submission. Assisted in the maintenance of client relationships through monthly conference calls and off-site meetings.Selected to head the implementation of a new service line offering for the company (Exemption Certificate Management). Responsibilities included choosing a team of 3 to train on the process to overseeing the day to day operations. Created metrics reports of daily certificate entry to communicate to client contacts during weekly status update conference calls. To date, the Exemption Certificate Management service hasproduced close to $250,000 in revenue.

This position was created specifically to allow me to travel to client headquarters to assist with various tax projects. Sent to SEM Group in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 2008 as part of a yearlong engagement in which I was tasked with reviewing the client’s processes and offering suggestions for improvements. Billed close to $500,000 for the project in its entirety.Awarded the 2008 National Employee of the Year due to the total billings for this project and the feedback and referral of the client. In addition to travel responsibilities, I was able to maintain a return workload of close to 2,000 annual filings. Clients included a large retailer and Midwest energy company. These two clients alone remitted over $180 million in taxes in 2008. Selected as part of a group of 6 analysts tasked with developing an in-house tax software. Utilized knowledge of tax regulations to create code in a developmental environment.

Responsible for an annual preparation and payment of 4,000 transactional tax returns.Assisted retail,manufacturing, wholesale, and energy industry clients. Monitored and reviewed all jurisdictional tax notices for all assigned clients. Updated the internal compliance software with appropriate tax related information for each assigned client. Prepared bank reconciliations for clients with a DMA owned bank accounts. Prepared monthly status reports to communicate to supervisors/managers of any potential client issues and/or additional services requested by the client.
