Command of a unit of 13 personnel. Overall responsibility for the safe operation (maintenance and flight) of an embarked Lynx HMA8 helicopter, exercising personnel management and leadership in often difficult conditions.In 2012 deployed his team with the French Navy for an anti-piracy mission of 5 months, leading and managing his personnel in an unfamiliar and particularly challenging environment.

Instructrion of aircrew students during the final, Operational, phase of training on Lynx HAS 3 & HMA 8 helicopters, including use of flight simulators, computer-based training, classroom briefs, and one-on-one instruction on the ground and in the air.

The primary role of the RNDHT is the promotion of the Royal Navy and Fleet Air Arm to the public across the UK. Mike was responsible for the planning and execution of flight operations during the 2011 display season, managing personnel and resources to ensure a high quality presence both in the air and on the ground, at over 20 extremely high profile events.

Second in Command of a unit of 10 personnel, jointly responsible for the safe operation (maintenance and flight) of an embarked Lynx HAS 3 helicopter. Assisting the Flight Commander in personnel management and leadership in often difficult conditions, Mike was responsable not only for daily Flight Operations but also for the professional and social development of a team of helicopter support engineers.
