About Mike Davolt
Over the last 17 years I have worked from Las Vegas to Saskatoon, Los Angeles to North Vancouver blasting 40,000psi rock and driving tunnel through running sand and hand mined through clay. Through it all I have been blessed to work with some of the best mining on the West Coast. Now I’m working to build teams of people interested in civil construction and deep excavation in the greater Vancouver market. While my role on each project has been different, the overall goals have always been the same: to deliver a quality project on time, under budget, and in a safe environment for our crew and customer.
Listed skills include Construction Management, Concrete, Construction, Contract Management, and 22 others.

Project Engineer
Since moving back to Vancouver it has been a mix of proposal writing, estimation, pre-job visits and travel for remote training. Between July and August we completed a trench-less crossing of the Mary Hill Bypass in Coquitlam for Pedre Construction. A very challenging short duration project that was incredibly successful.
Project Engineer
56k of new 36" and 42" (natural gas) pipeline installed alongside the 407 corridor in the Greater Toronto Area and I got to interface with several of our major subcontractors installing/removing bore pits, completing road crossings, installing valves and later on assisting the spread boss close out Spread 2. Worked closely with some very sharpe tie-in.
Project Engineer
We closed out the McOrmond Drive project in the first half of the year. It was a new twin sewer tunnel (130" and 108") for the city of Saskatoon. I worked with the onsite management staff to schedule closeout, help manage field crews, document final QA/QC requirements, and demobilize. Throughout the summer I worked for our Cast-In-Place-Pipe division.
Field Engineer
During the mining phase of the work the job was very field based. Making sure that the machine could keep mining was my primary focus. The execution of this took on different forms on different days, sometimes it meant having a heart to heart with the owner on the job, at other times it could be working with the men trying to streamline the operation one.
Assistant General Superintendent
When the special projects superintendent left the project I was promoted so that I could support the General Superintendent and coordinate/review with the engineering department on upcoming work. During this time I also spent time testing out the planned methods for upcoming work with the walkers/shifters to make the project transitions from one activity.
Field Engineer
Once transferred to North Vancouver I organized the projects field reporting system and worked with the shifters to give them a better understanding of what to expect when they head underground. The project was attempting to shotcrete and prep along almost 8km of tunnel without a centralized point for the crews to record what they had done yesterday and.
Field Engineer
While working as a field engineer on the Brightwater Project I oversaw field installation of 11,000 linear feet of 72"/54" Fiber-Reinforced Polymer Pipe and 24" Ductile Iron Pipe, the encasement of this pipe in cellular grout, and the placement of a 1' thick steel fiber reinforced concrete slab.
Project Engineer
The job is to keep the project running. Whether that means planning, sending in submittals, material procurement, or getting out in the field and tieing rebar, we get it done.
