Healthcare professional with ten years of experience as an Emergency Department Registered Nurse at both an academic trauma center and a community medical center. Currently enrolled in a masters in public health graduate program at the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health in the department of Health Behavior with a focus in Epidemiology and infectious diseases. Relevant coursework includes Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Disease Epidemiology, Infectious Disease Epidemiology, Social Justice and Equality – in Search of John Cassel’s Epidemiology, Anthropological GIS, and Field Epidemiology with the desire to work with infectious disease outbreaks, control, and surveillance upon graduating in May 2017. Spent three and a half years as a Peace Corps Volunteer working with rural Guatemalan communities improving capacity building techniques in regards to ecotourism. Exhibits a strong history in interpersonal communication, both domestically and internationally, and in-field experience in Central America as well as a decade of clinical experience and skills.
