I've written five books on video games, covering indie games, retro games, gaming history and esports, and edited several more including titles on Sonic the Hedgehog, PAC-MAN and Final Fantasy. I am currently writing my sixth book about video games, a history of the games (official and not) based on Alien/s.

Went full-time at VICE, to further develop its gaming content, in early 2015, having previously worked in a similar capacity part-time. In my time there, VICE Gaming became a standalone vertical, Waypoint, which I co-founded alongside colleagues in the US. As well as editorial matters - writing, commissioning, publishing - I also worked across commercial partnerships and attended countless gaming events around the world.

Actually my second stint as online editor here, as I filled the role for the year between leaving DrownedinSound and joining the BBC.

Oversaw the commissioning, editing and publishing of 1,000s of album reviews for the BBC website('s music pages). Wrote over 500 myself. Also worked closely with radio shows/producers across all BBC music stations, from Radio 1 to 6 Music, to align website coverage with what DJs/shows were playing and recommending. Interviewed lots of bands for the BBC Music Blog, arranged album of the year polls, all that jazz.
