Drove integration and rationalization of Psion product portfolio into EMC portfolio. Working with various stakeholders to drive future product portfolio vision and technology evolution (Marketing, Sales, Strategy, global MSI Design Centers, Supply Chain, JDM, Technology Partners).

Multiple engineering disciplines (~200) included Software Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, RF, Industrial Design, Systems, and Innovation teams located in Mississauga, Ottawa, Vancouver, France, UK, and China. Partnered with a variety of Taiwan and China based suppliers to drive down cost and time to market. Drove continuous improvements including Systems Engineering discipline and tools; Agile Software practices and tools; Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) practices and tools; Research and Innovation.Drove re-architecture of product portfolio around modular product design and platform architecture, which resulted in lower indirect costs for product and part complexity, faster time to market, and increased manufacturing turns. This lead to a new company strategy of product in combination with Open Innovation and Flexibility, resulting in better customer ROI, technology protection, ability to target “long tail” markets. Responsible for technology vision communication at partner conferences, investor meetings, annual leadership conferences, and major site staff meetings. Lead engineering organization through difficult recession, while maintaining staff morale, driving new technologies and continuous improvement. Throughout recession continued to drive new technology investigations, and a culture of innovation.

Drove mobile WAN market expansion product portfolio, with complex wireless and product requirements. Turned 2006 RoHS industry challenge into an opportunity to re-architect product and process. Lead to lower products cost, greater reuse, faster time to market, and conformance of portfolio on time. Lead acquisition of Symagery to strengthen technology IP and lower costs. Drove partnership with Flextronics SBS, starting with MLB, and eventual full box build and outsourcing model. Lead to BOM cost savings as high as 30%.
