Managed product design and development for the Godfrey Pontoon product line. Typical responsibilities started with sketching concepts to communicate ideas derived from various inputs; prepared and presented design reviews; detailed designs using Solidworks and created Engineering drawings, BOMs and other documentation such as work/assembly instructions; managed the development and prototyping of many parts with outside vendors and internal departments; coordinated the final assembly of designs; participated in field testing and assisted production with the implementation of new designs or boat models. Also problem solved production issues, implemented new processes and assisted with Marketing for photo shoots and brochure development. Major accomplishments include designing a unique seating layout and innovative features that resulted in 2010 “Excellence In Design” awards from Trailer Boat Magazine for the Pontoon category as well as the Styling category.

Managed product design changes and responded to customer related issues involving the performance or operation of fuel control systems for the Aerospace Engines and Systems department of Honeywell. Investigated component failures and organized laboratory set ups and testing. Initiated drawing changes and issued work orders for stress or material lab investigations as well as writing engineering reports.

Provided mechanical design support for the Training and Support Systems division. Main responsibilities included designing a hydraulic system to operate the door and ramp of a military aircraft cabin trainer which included designing various system components in Unigraphics. Major accomplishments on this project included saving over $180,000 from the original project estimate by redesigning and simplifying air vehicle parts with commercial items and worked with Electrical and Structural Engineers to complete the design and control logic.

ALCOA, Inc., Lafayette, Indiana 47905 (1998-2002); Chandler, Arizona 85226 (2002-2004)Managed projects dealing with installation or maintenance of plant equipment from small expense items to large capital jobs up to $500,000 for the Aerospace Extrusion and Automotive Drive Shaft Mills. Designed various mechanical devices to either increase production, improve ergonomics, or to make plant equipment safe for production workers. Participated in Alcoa Production System team that was established to improve flow paths and implement all of the concepts of a pull system into the manufacturing process. Managed special project group consisting of a mechanic and electrician that developed and implemented solutions to production problems while maintaining a low budget, fast pace schedule with safety always being the highest priority. Participated on the Purdue Campus recruiting team, which included organizing job fairs, hosting plant tours for students and mentoring summer interns. Major accomplishments include designing and installing an aluminum extrusion inspection, marking and packing cell in 30 days for less then $70,000 with a payback of four months as well as several other automated plant machinery designs.
