Operations and P&L responsibility for a large integrated pulp and paper manufacturing complex; set three consecutive annual plant safety records; transformed the plant’s quality reputation to preserve and enhance customer loyalty; set three consecutive annual production records; earned a corporate award for cost reduction; led water usage reduction initiative during the worst drought in recent memory; earned a regional award as executive leader of the year in 2007 for leading air pollution reduction initiatives; served as corporate manufacturing representative on the negotiating team which successfully crafted a labor agreement with the United Steelworkers of America for four U. S. plants; successfully steered plant operations through the challenges and difficulties associated with operating under and emerging from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection; earned distinguished alumni award for 2011 from Winthrop University; retired in April 2011.

Overall responsibility for the operation of three lightweight coated machines and one pulp dryer, including over 300 indirect reports; starting in 1999, increased paper machine speeds and productivity to new record levels while reducing complaints and off-quality tonnage, improving safety performance, and reducing costs; in 2000, developed new value-added grades for all three machines, which improved profitability; in 2001, successfully started up a new press section on a modern high-speed newsprint machine; in 2003, successfully started up an online coating and supercalendering conversion on a wide, fast newsprint machine, successfully converting it to the largest, most efficient LWC machine in North America.
