The Assistant Director of Utility Operations serves as a senior leader in the Facilities Operations organization. The position will be centered on utility management, energy conservation, efficient operation and maintenance of heating and cooling equipment. Responsibilities also include continuous improvement of building systems and their operation to achieve measurable energy reduction, and successful execution of capital projects to upgrade and modernize legacy systems to reduce burden to a $25M annual Energy Budget.The position has the responsibility to oversee all aspects of the Utilities Operations unit, with a total FTE of approximately 60. The Assistant Director oversees all aspects of heating and cooling; both process and HVAC. This responsibility spans the Baker Chilled Water Plant on North Campus, the McKay Heating Plant on South Campus, and the expanding Downtown Campus which includes our newest, largest and most complex building which is over 624,000GSF. Responsibility also includes Trades, Plant Utilities, and BMS Control platform responsibility; which spans over 200 buildings on the three campuses encompassing over 11.5M square feet.The Chilled Water Plant operation provides chilled water; HVAC and process, for all academic, service and administrative buildings with a peak capacity of 14,600 tons per hour of refrigeration. This operation also includes campus-wide boiler (over 90 gas-fired units) and HVAC controls. The Heating Plant operation provides heat and processes steam for all academic, service, dormitory and administrative buildings with a peak capacity of 200,000 pounds per hour of medium pressure steam. The Heating Plant operation also includes campus-wide HVAC control responsibilities.
