Data Center: Supervise the daily operational tasks of the data center. These include break/fix, RMA, rack-and-stack, new installations, equipment decommissions, troubleshooting and repair, MACD, and others. Provide mentorship and training to technicians and engineers in data center and network engineering career paths. Create engineering documentation related to power consumption, space planning, before and after illustrations, budget proposals, and future forecasts. Procure quotes for equipment, services, and licensing. Create PowerPoint slides on various topics and present them to upper management for review. Maintain an accurate facility access list of those who need access to the data center, including full time staff and vendors. Supervise the work of vendor personnel and provide feedback to their managers. Create training programs for the staff and track their progress. Review/Approve/Deny time cards and expense reports. Create performance reviews on the data center staff and solutions to boost their performance when required. Be on-call 24/7 and be the data center subject matter expert.Field Operations: Supervise the daily activities of Field Operations. A 6-member team in Northern California provides the installation, maintenance, and repair of over 1300 UPS's in the Sutter enterprise, ranging from small rackmount units to large 3-phase systems that provide backup power to multi-story acute hospitals. Review/Approve/Deny time cards and expense reports. Manage PTO and on-call schedules. Create performance reviews on the field staff and solutions to boost their performance when required. Procure quotes for equipment, services, and licensing. Create PowerPoint slides on various topics and present them to upper management for review. Manage the preventative maintenance contracts for various equipment, including UPS and HVAC. Manage new telecom room (MDF/IDF) design and construction requirements, including sizing, cooling, floorplans, etc.

Create the engineering plans for data center related activities. These include equipment installations, break/fix, troubleshooting and repair, rack-and-stack, and new data center builds. Lead teams of technicians and engineers and provide hands-on training. Specify the appropriate systems for installation, including fiber optic and copper cabling, patch cords and fiber jumpers, terminal servers and serial components. Configure network switch ports, VLANs, terminal server ports, management ports such as iLO, iDRAC, MLOM, and others. Procure quotes for equipment. Work directly with vendor personnel. Provide status updates and feedback to supervisors and managers.

Install, configure, decommission, and change data center equipment on a variety of enterprise level systems including Cisco Nexus, Cisco Catalyst, Cisco ACI, Cisco ASA, load balancers, Citrix, VMware, Call Manager etc. Provide smart hands support for other departments by completing a wide range of task requests assigned by them.Provide the planning, engineering, design, and administration of complex fiber optic and copper network cabling systems throughout the data center. Install, repair, move, add, and change equipment and cabling that consist of network and telecommunications purposes. Plan, engineer, and execute the upgrades of the existing networking and communications equipment. Maintain relations with internal engineers and outside product manufacturers and sales representatives to stay up-to-date on cutting edge technologies used in data center environments. Propose new upgrades, changes, and decommissions to existing communications systems to increase cost savings, productivity, and business work flow purposes. Document existing communications systems in both high and low level diagrams. Lead teams of installers to install and remove cabling and equipment. Provide on-call service for network and voice outages located at the data center.
