I co-founded Anza with Aaron Hall, John DuPont and Malini Balakrisnan in May of 2023. Anza was formed as a spin out and sale of an emerging business line inside of Borrego (a company I helped co-found in 2002). Anza's vision is to be the place the solar and storage industry go to rapidly make optimal design and procurement decisions. We're accelerating the deployment of renewable energy by giving buyers and sellers rapid access to critical data and analytics about the solar modules and battery storage product options available in the market. We offer an order of magnitude better experience than the status quo, helping companies save time and increase project profits. To date we've engaged with customers on over 4GW of solar module and 1.5GWh of energy storage procurements.I started as a renewable energy entrepreneur in 2002 when I co-founded Borrego Solar. Over the next 21-years we grew form a garage residential installer to one of the largest downstream solar and storage service providers in the country. We successfully navigated the "solar coaster" as the industry grew from 1MW in annual solar installs to over 30,000MW. In 2022 we made the strategic decision to spin out and sell our successful greenfield development business. The business was acquired by a private equity firm called Energy Capital Partners and was renamed New Leaf Energy. This transaction was a big win for our equity investors, generating total returns over 20x. I consider myself a professional CEO, and am dedicated to continuing to improve my executive leadership skills and playbook. I have hands on experience managing through all parts of a company's life cycle (startup, fundraising, rapid growth, and restructuring/turn-around). I'm passionate about creating engaging cultures, high performing teams, and successful leaders. I've been studying and practicing Lean (aka The Toyota Production System) for the last decade.
