I had the unique opportunity to lead three separate offices to success at Bovis Lend Lease for the years as detailed above. As Principal in Charge, all areas of the business reported to me from business development to estimating and field and office management. Each office had its own market focus(es). Sectors involved encompassed healthcare, education, pharmaceutical, industrial, senior living, office, transportation, hospitality and retail.In my role as Executive Vice President I had oversight for offices in Raleigh, Charlotte, Columbia, Atlanta, Orlando, Miami and Tampa

I started working for Bovis Lend Lease in 1985 in Charlotte, NC as a Project Manager and completed a data center for Ross Perot’s EDS as my first assignment. I progressed through multiple other assignments in the hospitality and retail market sectors and was promoted to Senior Project Manager in 1987 while building a large data center. I worked extensively on these negotiated projects during design and preconstruction as well as the actual construction phases of the projects. The negotiated aspects of these projects drove home to me the value in focusing on customer needs and expectations. The company’s focus on Total Quality Management (TQM) created the process-driven approach to my management style with a focus on measurable results and personal accountability. In 1989 I was recognized by the Charlotte chapter of The American Subcontractors Association as their “Project Manager of the Year”.

After graduating from the University of Cincinnati in 1980, I immediately began full-time employment with Turner Construction in Pittsburgh, PA. In my five years, I progressed through multiple projects and was promoted three times. My duties encompassed both field surveying and superintendence to project management and estimating. The projects ranged from the very large (54 story office tower); to medium (industrial manufacturing plant); to small (special projects division) as well as tenant upfit work. In 1984 I was awarded the Pittsburgh territory’s most valuable employee award.
