My work experience over the past 16 years has been in a high-stress, fast-paced, demanding, precise and accurate field of public works engineering that has required mental toughness, a soft touch in negotiating with clients, and an even-keeled demeanor to handle challenging situations. I have grown from being a senior engineer, responsible for design and plan development, to the engineering manager for my office of ten engineers and drafters responsible for delivering projects on-time and under budget. I manage with a form of a trusting delegation that provides younger staff the ability to learn and grow, while keeping a watchful eye on the big picture, deadlines, budget, and important details. I have always tried to empower, not hinder, those that I work alongside. I am independent in nature, but not hesitant to seek insight after I have exhausted my own research efforts. I am financially responsible, both personally and professionally, and manage resources to maximize efficiency. I enjoy finances and long-term planning. I am attentive and learn and adapt quickly. I am fair, reasoned and self-reflective to see where I can improve. I have been through enough professional battles to understand the tactics necessary to result in a win-win outcome. I understand that clear communication is perhaps the most important skill of all.
