I started as a guitarist recording demos for my own band. Then other bands asked me to do the same. Suddenly audio engineering seemed much more fun than playing guitar. This led to mixing live bands, and working as a studio-recording consultant at Steve's Music (Toronto). I also did some live sound engineering for IATSE 58, setting up, mixing, and tearing down audio gear for conferences (esp. Toronto Convention Centre) and live shows (esp. Roy Thomson Hall). Around the same time, I produced original music for fashion shows and indie film. This often involved hiring musicians, booking recording spaces, and recording live performances, as well as mixing the final product down to stereo. When I started getting interested in computing, I moved to Tokyo for a couple of years. There I did more live sound work for local gaijin bands. In Dubai, I mostly concentrated on my own productions. I also recorded demos for the band Fabio's Kart, and consulted on sound engineering for audiovisual installations.
