Central to Mike's philosophy is the belief that engineering, while rooted in a solid foundation of knowledge, is dynamic and must continually evolve to meet the evolving needs of a sustainable, net zero, low-carbon built environment.  From developing sustainable buildings to reach the government’s aim of net zero carbon by 2050, developing a circular and regenerative economy, to embracing the competency-driven, Building Safety Act.  I am swift to adopt supply chain technologies, follow academic and industry research and development, and disseminate this in my role as Head of Profession. Whether revitalizing existing structures like the Space House or championing low carbon adaptive reuse, he remains committed to pushing the boundaries of engineering practice.Having graduated from University College London in 1981, Mike embarked on a distinguished career, initially in contracting and later at Whitby (subsequently AKT) in 2006, before leading Pell Frischmann’s Buildings Sector in January 2010, and becoming Head of Profession in 2022.Mike is also a member of The Edge, a leading think tank in the built environment, where his insights contribute to shaping the future of the industry.'Professional Memberships and Qualifications:- Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers- Fellow of the Institution of Structural Engineers- BSc: Civil Engineering – University College London- Chartered Engineer- Member of the built environment think tank The Edge
