PADD-People Against Distracted Driving was founded in 2012 in honor of my daughter Nikki, who at the age of 18 lost her life due to distracted driving. The prosecutor determined the cause of the accident to be officially "inattentive driving." There were over 30 text by the responsible driver of Nikki's car sent during the 45 minute ride. The last text by the driver turned into a call to the drivers boyfriend. He didn't answer or was on a call, this resulted in a voice mail of the accident. Skidding, glass shattering, silence and then screaming, and 5 minutes of pure heart wrenching words. Undeniable proof that the phone was the distraction, only to be deleted a month later and then phones were switched when warrants obtained the phone. We hope to be the countries leading advocate and support foundation for victims and families who have been affected by the nations new epidemic. Our goal is to change people's attitudes by education, awareness and support. PADD is changing legislation on both state and federal levels.
