Since I graduated from Tri-State/Trine University in 1991 I have had 4 jobs.The first job was with Kirsch Company. I started out as a 2nd shift production supervisor and quickly advanced to Maintenance Manager. Kirsch was a large union facility that made curtain rods and drapery hardware. Kirsch brought in all of the raw materials to preform all needed manufacturing to make the necessary components. As the Maintenance Manager, it allowed me to learn a vast amount of different manufacturing methods. I gained knowledge in the areas of steel slitting, roll forming, paint lines, stamping, plating, injection molding, cord braiding, light assembly, and final assembly.In the maintenance department we covered plant breakdowns, small projects, large projects, and the maintenance of a 22 acre manufacturing facility. The plant breakdowns entailed keeping the production equipment up and running. The small projects would be things like building offices or building new work areas for employees. The large projects would normally consist of the building of production machinery. I also created and implemented a preventive maintenance program that drastically reduced the production breakdowns.Once I learned that Kirsch was relocating, I decided to start my own dry cleaning company in Fort Wayne, IN. I started Quality Cleaners from the ground up. I purchased and installed the dry cleaning equipment. I preformed all the areas of running a small business including repairing all the equipment, training the employees, customer service, payroll and taxes, and everything else that goes with running a business. After 15 years and running 3 locations I decided to sell the business.I was a salesman and estimator at Royalty Roofing for 2 1/2 years which is one of the top Duro-Last installers in the country.I am currently the Rivclinch specialist at Bollhoff in Kendallville, IN. I sell, repair and work with the customers on their clinching tools. Clinching is the joining of metal with no fasteners. It takes the top layer of material and locks it into the bottom layers of material with a punch and die.
