☛ ABOUT ME at BACSMy IT career was a far cry from my initial pursuit of Biochemistry and Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology with a Pharmaceutical Sciences minor. My first job as a lab technician in an Immunology Research Lab focused on clinical trials. I quickly rose to the top by helping develop a method to determine if the treatment was working (published in the “Journal of Immunology Methods”).It was during this time I pursued my information technology interests taking courses including Microsoft NT, servers, web programming, etc. ultimately becoming a Cisco Certified Network Associate.Soon thereafter, I abandoned immunology research in favor of IT. Having recently learned Microsoft skills, I interviewed for a middle level IT technician landing the position ahead of 20-30 other applicants. My IT career led me to Cisco where I developed deep technical knowledge / skills and the ability to manage projects and people.Fast forward to today at BACS, where I handle all procurement, strategic IT sourcing contracts/legal responsibilities, vendor relations, project management, insurance, and other executive functions including sales. As a multi-faceted person, I thrive in diversity. For example, I developed an alternate revenue stream that blended smartly into our computer services. Realizing each time a client moved it required new cabling for their computer network infrastructure.Marketing it as a ‘one-stop shop’, we provided cabling for, data, phone, wireless and audio to our clients. I personally handled all project management working with consultants to ensure successful completion. This revenue stream grew. Eventually, business extended beyond the needs of a full-time Sales and Project Manager, and we successfully sold this segment of the business.I developed our fully managed IT Sourcing and Procurement services for our clients. We handle all IT sourcing for our clients, with an eye on cost savings and technology innovation.

☛ ABOUT ME at CISCOReflecting back, little did I know becoming a Cisco Certified Network Associate would lead me to work for the tech conglomerate. With the guidance of the Senior Director and supervisor who saw my talent and potential, my Cisco Systems career grew and flourished. My competences and unique set of skills - highly technical with the ability to run projects and manage people - continually propelled advancement. My career eventually spanned 4 areas of expertise: technical, technical project/program manager, IT Vendor Management and IT Procurement Services.I transited from a completely technical role (Senior System Administrator) to a Global technical Project Manager, next to a Global Program Manager (less technical, more function and service based), finally into IT Vendor and Procurement Management with success closing global multi-million dollar Software sales deals. I also worked on large hardware sales (HP, and IBM), balance of trade, vendor relations and large-scale global service agreements.I closed a deal worth over $40M for archive backup, software escrow and many other services within 30+ countries that Cisco did business in. This involved securing DUPA agreements for many countries (Data Use and Protection Agreements), NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreements) and many other processes. It took over 2 years to complete.Cisco acquired numerous companies that handled Microsoft Server network architecture. I participated in transactions as I facilitated merging all dependencies on servers and integrating this technically into a Cisco data center without interruption. Projects became increasingly more complex, some taking more than a year to complete. My deep knowledge and understanding of software, hardware, cloud and contract needs was invaluable as it provided the skills to successfully bring all parties and stakeholders together.

NOTABLE ACCOMPLISHMENTS at CISCO #1An example of one of the large-scale projects I worked on during my IT Vendor Management role involved developing a global hardware system deployment standard for Cisco’s networking technology use. Working within the $20M Cisco hardware quarterly budget, one of our primary purposes was to standardize hardware purchases.Managing a global team, we utilized RFIs and RFPs to standardize the network hardware buy. Upon finalizing the hardware purchase standardization protocol with vendors, I worked with Cisco’s internal purchasing to add these to our buy catalog and negotiated all terms/prices with the vendors based on projected spend rates. Next, we focused on educating Cisco labs, managers, etc. on the proper hardware buy process. We then concentrated on developing automated system deployment in a shared environment. Our team developed a 100% automated Windows Server build enabling Cisco to push all OS files, hardware configuration, cabinet files, antivirus files to each automated build. This process allowed junior team members to “set and forget” an OS build for Windows Server. We utilized this process on all Cisco CCTV servers in each Cisco location in the world (over 90 locations in 40+ countries). In refining the process, we:• Built new scripting tools to allow network hardware configuration at the DOS level;• Solved the virus issue of infected servers by standardizing the builds to 4 variations thereby saving countless hours “rebuilding servers”;• Developed remote management tools to monitor and setup the network so our global team never needed to physically touch a server, unless the hardware failed. This project saved Cisco millions of dollars in unauthorized IT networking hardware purchases and thousands of labor hours as anyone could now build a properly configured Windows or Linux Operating system anywhere in the world.

Program Manager of Global Procurement ServicesNear the end of my career at Cisco, our small IT Vendor Management group of 8 people was charged with all IT’s global purchasing and we performed our work well.Cisco’s procurement officers took notice of our success in closing deals and delivering quickly and under budget, and convinced management to swallow our small team into the massive Global Procurements Services group (of well over 150 people).I became the software lead, but still was considered the most expert person in the group on the subject of servers and datacenter hardware based on my previous work.NOTABLE ACCOMPLISHMENTS• Senior Vendor Manager focused on technology sourcing (hardware, software, storage and security).• Closed numerous multi million dollar global enterprise purchasing deals on behalf of multiple groups within Cisco. Some examples are Symantec, Trend Micro, McAfee, Oracle, RedHat, HP, Netapp, Novell, OSI, Splunk, Adobe, Iron Mountain and many others.• Negotiated and executed multiple global purchasing contracts including Software License Agreements, Master Service Agreements, Volume License Agreements, Non Disclosure Agreements, Data Usage and Protection Agreements among others.• Trusted technology advisor for IT, Desktop and Engineering groups within Cisco.• Vendor relationship management including score carding, quarterly reviews, improvement plans, strategic alliances, balance of trade, OEM relationships, among others.• Successfully utilized different procurement tools including RFI, RFP, RFQ, auctions and other processes to close deals quickly and under budget.• Completed executive level internal management processes that became the standard within the entire procurement organization; these processes help to categorize vendor levels to manage the thousands of vendors Cisco uses to maximize limited internal work cycles and improve internal efficiencies.

Notable Accomplishments At Cisco #2 – Global Red Hat Linux Agreement
Cisco Systems, Inc. Jun 2006 - Aug 2012
    San Jose, Ca, Us
Cisco sought after a 3-year Global Cisco Usage Agreement with Red Hat Linux (valued at $25M). Typically labs purchase their own software and service agreements. However, the IT department funded it because Red Hat Linux was used heavily in the lab environment. This deal was complex because there were 200+ Cisco labs with varied needs and requirements. It was necessary to obtain usage, needs, service requirements, etc. from each lab and put together a global deal with Red Hat.It was also necessary to secure C-level approval due to the high cost (it was larger than the Microsoft deal of that year). This meant many emails and meetings justifying the spend with C-Level players to get the deal pushed through. To further complicate matters, Red Hat was adamant that internal usage could not include any OEM or embedded appliance usage, as this was a separate deal by the OEM team.Building this agreement required dozens of client meetings with IT, Engineering, Labs, and Business teams. This type of deal needed to be executed slowly and dolefully with extraordinary diplomacy to ensure satisfaction of all parties involved. After a year of hard work, we were successful in finalizing the agreement.
