The QA/Testing group of UW Medicine IT Services has the responsibility to ensure that quality assurance processes and best practices are in place, and are followed, with respect to all aspects of operations and projects. As one aspect of its mission, the QA/Testing group will provide test leads to other teams and projects within IT Services, to improve testing performance, organization and accountability within projects. The Test Lead will contribute to the successful implementation and support of application systems and infrastructure of UW Medicine. The Test Lead will coach and provide consultation to project teams in testing tools, strategies, methodologies, and processes. In the event that the Test Lead is assigned to lead a project through the testing life cycle, he/she will work closely with users, stakeholders, and project teams to analyze business processes and data, develop user requirements and functional specifications, plan and lead all phases of testing, and assist business stakeholders and project teams to deliver on time and high-quality applications and systems. Testing functions will be performed in collaboration with the vendors, medical center business partners, end-users, applications and operations support staff as leader of a cross functional test team for the project assigned. Working relationships must be established and productively maintained with department managers and senior department leaders in key customer groups at UW Medicine. The emphasis of this position is to provide leadership to integrate ITS testing standards and methodologies into the project life cycle with a good understanding of the application and infrastructure to deliver high quality solutions to meet business and clinical needs.

Position Purpose: UW Medicine has made a decision to roll out the suite of Epic billing and patient access modules including ADT, Prelude, Cadence, and Resolute HB at Northwest Hospital and Medical Center (NWH). NWH will continue to use Soarian clinicals as well as 30+ ancillary/peer systems currently in place. This position will be responsible for supporting all phases of testing for both the functional and technical areas of the ENCORE project. This position will attend design sessions, review existing test scripts, modify or prepare new test scripts, and participate in test team and other meetings. Position Complexities:The Test Analyst may interact with a wide variety of technical and operational staff within UW Medicine and NWH. Duties and Responsibilities• Participate as a member of the ENCORE Test Team• Attend Design Sessions• Document requirements from Design Sessions that impact testing• Review existing inventory of test scripts• Improve existing test scripts• Write new test scripts• Participate in all aspects of testing including script execution• Work directly with appropriate project personnel to understand project concept, objectives, and approach of software development projects• Assist in test event management• Support the build-out, use, and reporting from Quality Center/ALM

Under the general guidance of the ICD-10 Sr. Project Managers, I contribute to the successful planning and execution of the ICD-10 testing against a complex and diverse set of changes to systems, interfaces, data stores, business processes across the UW Medicine enterprise. This includes: Harborview Medical Center, University of Washington Medical Center, Northwest Hospital & Medical Center, Valley Medical Center, UW Medicine Neighborhood Clinics, UW School of Medicine, UW Physicians, Airlift Northwest, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, and external partners. I assign testers to participate in detailed scenario development and execution and provide support. • Manage scenario validation sessions and sign-off. • Manage development of test elements (test data, test environments) between integration test component test teams and e2e participants. • Manage, resolve, and document issues identified by the testing process and escalate issues to stakeholders. • Ensure appropriate ICD-10 test coverage for applications based on stated criteria. • Ensure each testing phase’s entrance and exit criteria are met. • Provide input into resource estimates, Testing Plans, and Test Strategies. • Communicate cross-team areas of interest/concern/duplication. • Maintain test-ware repositories (HP Quality Center, SharePoint). • Work closely with application owners, support teams and interface teams to monitor test schedule for ICD-10 test efforts. • Track and report progress of testing cycles and phases. • Facilitate and manage use of integrated test environments. • Work with the testing resources to coordinate re-testing of failed scripts. • Participate in testing as necessary and feasible.

This position is responsible for support and training in new Cerner applications for end users, both clinical and internal and for the designand build of a new imaging system for UWMC.
