Recruited to build a strategic IT capability and lead product development. I was promoted to CIO-CTO with responsibility for all IT strategy, applications, technology, infrastructure, and operations to improve the engagement with our 300,000 client families. To help modernize the organization, I introduced SAFe to the entire enterprise and led the Agile and DevOps transformations with a focus on client value, quality, and empowerment.• Retooled the team, filled skill gaps, and instituted efficient repeatable processes to prioritize and manage work.• Developed strategy that leveraged our partners’ investments in emerging technology to accelerate our product delivery and capabilities while containing costs via joint development. • Worked with the field and business stakeholders to deliver solutions that increased accuracy, efficiency, and product stickiness.• I established IT governance process and set up regular stand-up meetings to introduce new products and keep backlog prioritized.• Quickly modernized an outdated data center with 10 yr. old equipment that lacked a cohesive architecture. Once stabilized, I laid out a plan to migrate to the cloud that focused on agility, resiliency (BCP/DR), and cost controls that avoided ~$2m annual CapEx. On target to close the data centers by 2021.• Deployed industry leading straight through processing which resulted in the elimination of paper forms, automated compliance, reduced the time to open and fund an account from days to minutes, increased sales by 12% and eliminated rework that had been ~40%.• Created aggressive InfoSec roadmap that substantially reduced cyber risk via defense-in-depth program based on NIST.
