About Mike Maerten

Over 20 years of experience in training, instructional design, testing and documentation development. Michael began his career as a high school Biology teacher where he perfected his communication and writing skills, by working in a classroom environment, composing lesson plans, developing curriculum, and testing scientific modeling software. After teaching Biology, Mr. Maerten worked as a technical trainer, instructing end users in the application of the military’s medical software CHCS and CHCSII. During this time, Mr. Maerten honed his core management skills, technical writing skills, curriculum development, while also developing a Computer Based Training (CBT) course. Mr. Maerten then moved into the area of software analysis, where he became adept at documenting test requirements, results and reports. Seven years ago, Mr. Maerten moved to the Signal Analysis community where he began training a wide variety of users, including operators, system administrators, and developers. He continued designing instruction, updating a training website, providing helpdesk support, and testing systems. During this time, Mr. Maerten gained experience in using the Linux Operating System while carrying out some system administration, troubleshooting, testing, and customer support. Most recently he trained developers how to code in Hadoop MapReduce.
