Growing up in a family business Lockside Trading Company created in 1987 by Mother Susan Mattucci and her partner Brian Holmes in the town of Young’s Point. Getting hands-on experience of what it takes to be an entrepreneur from the beginning stages to creating a multi award winning small business. The retail store operating year-round offering a constant changing environment & experience, becoming a favorite destination for local and out-of-town visitors. Attracting more than 100,000 visitors a year, so many that in 1997 was classified as an Ontario Major Attraction. Brian passed away on June 30, 2003, after a 10-month battle with cancer, where I stepped in full time keeping up the vision of Lockside by growing the business, including expanding to another location in Haliburton. Making Lockside the destination in Peterborough, the Kawarthas, & the Haliburton Highlands. Now with 3 shopping locations to serve from: one in Young’s Point in the heart of the Kawarthas offering over 7,000 square feet of shopping, the second location in downtown Haliburton with over 5,000 square feet. The third location – our online store offering e-commerce for consumer convenience, enabling Lockside to serve customers from anywhere.No matter where customers shop, all three locations offer a one-of-a-kind shopping experience, with a mix of home décor helping create living spaces in which to sit back, relax, and entertain throughout the year. Selections are constantly changing throughout the seasons, offering a multitude of choices from indoor and outdoor furniture, lighting, giftware, bedding, clothing and so much more. Including Steamers Café & Ice-cream Parlor located at Young’s Point, offering the famous Kawartha Dairy Ice-cream.As a multi-award-winning retailer & design service.
