I assist Graduate Medical Education students with a variety of biomedical research projects in terms of designing experiments and conducting assays.

I worked on a team to engineer the first individual microbe capable of consuming methane as a main carbon source anaerobically. I then employed metabolic and consortium engineering to produce the value-added products lactate (optically pure) and electricity, respectively. Other major responsibilities included scientific writing, developing and implementing assays, conducting genetic manipulations (transformations with plasmids, and chromosomal integrations) in and culturing bacteria/archaea, maintaining the laboratory/equipment, and characterizing a flavin transporter.

I constructed a new proton balanced genome-scale model of Clostridium acetobutylicum ATCC 824 to simulate Clostridial metabolism. Other main responsibilities included implementing linear programming to solve metabolic models, parsing biochemical and reaction network databases, predicting physical properties of molecules on a large-scale, and helping build a comprehensive database to rectify and store published genome-scale models. I also fully developed my skills with MATLAB and with the Microsft Office Suite.
