Vice President - Investor RelationsMitel Networks Sep 2013 - Nov 2018Joining Mitel as VP-IRO in Sept 2013, the newly created role reported directly into the CFO and CEO and was responsible for all strategic and day-to-day activities for Mitel's investor relations functions, including: cultivating new investors & diversifying the shareholder base; increasing visibility within the research community; initiating/implementing corporate governance and CSR programs; driving/supporting the development and execution of the company’s strategic communications; and contributing data and analysis to competitive intelligence.As the functional leader, Mike brought structure to the role and leveraged an underutilized IR function running separate from and without the coordinated support of CorpComm. Critical to the IR program’s success was its integration into the executive leadership team, aligning it marketing, sales and strategy development. Successes include more than tripling market cap when the company was acquired by private equity for $2 billion in November 2018; expanding the the investor base by 4x; vastly expanding research coverage - both published & engaged; and establishing a formalized competitive intelligence function. Additionally and in working closely with General Counsel, Mike was the driver to advance Mitel’s governance profile and served as the point exec on CSR & ESG matters and initiating actions that lead to an ISS score that improved from a 9 to a 3. In addition to the day-to-day role, Mike served on the Disclosure & 401k Committees and was one of four CEO staff members of the Communications Council. This Council served as the nexus for all external & internal messaging development, execution, and gauging effectiveness.
