October 1, 2021Greetings to friends, co-workers, and acquaintances,This is the day I announce my retirement. On the anniversary of my 30th year in the wireless industry and the end of 17 years at the helm of CBA Site Services, the time has come. I am fortunate to sell my company, CBA, to James Kramer, a youngster I hired 20+ years ago who became founder of Legacy Wireless Services and an industry leader. As CBA transitions to Legacy, my son, Ethan McWhirter, will continue to lead CBA/Legacy California as Director. It has been an awesome privilege to work with my son for over a dozen years and witness his growth to the industry leader he’s become.I want to extend my deepest thanks to everyone I’ve encountered during my career. No matter what capacity, short or long term, friend, competitor, mentor, client…I've learned and benefited from each of you. The early days of cellular were exciting, where relationships and creativity were fostered. Cellular One, GTE Mobilnet and Nextel were competing head to head. Everything was new and boundaries were few. The wireless industry is much different today. Along with many of my peers, we’ve been challenged, bruised, and blessed through this evolution to mega-corp telecom. The business has changed and I no longer perform with the gusto required today. Not complaining…just the facts, man.I wish each of you the best that life and career have to offer. I again say “Thank you”. I will miss many of you. I regret losing some of you (MG, LS). I will enjoy the friends that are ongoing. I hope to reconnect with whomever, however, whenever.
