The road of my professional life has led me to areas, both figurative and literal, that I would never have expected. I spent the first 10 years working for Siemens as a Dimensional Engineer. Most of my time was spent working with Ford engineers in the underbody realm: Engine and Transmission, suspension and brake systems.I moved on to DCS, where I spent two months in France and China. I learned so much about the people and cultures. In France, I did dimensional work on the ITER fusion reactor. France has the Old World sophistication and culture you might expect. And the food was amazing! In China, I worked for an automotive startup dimensioning the exterior, but it was the people who were amazing. The people I met there were some of the nicest and most welcoming I have ever met. While there was a language barrier, they never let that stop them from being friendly. When I came back, I went to work as a contract engineer at Warran Truck Assembly as a Quality engineer responsible for the front end alignment. It was my first experience putting any problem solving methodology into practice. I was able to improve the capability by about 33%.I came to Ford as a contract, was hired directly after two years, and went from dimensional engineer to Black Belt to STA. In that time, I became a leader: teaching GD&T and green belt candidates. I led a team that developed an automated GD&T syntax checker for all Ford internal users and external suppliers. They rewarded me with a Trade Secret and a Vehicle Components & System Engineering Innovation & Technical Award in 2016A reorganization within STA saw me move from a Site engineer to a Warranty engineer to Resident engineer. I worked with suppliers with various commodities, from hubs and springs to fuel tanks and convertible roofs. I learned the PPAP process and how to communicate with suppliers. This included experience with encouraging supplier improvement to their manufacturing process, reviewing prints, the associated GD&T and the gaging. Combined with my dimensional knowledge, I can help process issues very efficiently.
