Responsibilities include the design and integration of turnkey photovoltaic module production lines which Spire provides to its customers around the world.

Responsible for managing the Advanced Technology group that runs Spire’s Advanced Technology Center (ATC), an applications laboratory equipped with production scale PV module assembly and test equipment. The ATC develops new module designs and assembly processes, evaluates module materials, provides module process training for Spire’s equipment customers, and produces limited productions runs of modules for a wide range of applications. Modules produced by the ATC have passed UL 1703 and IEC 61215 qualification tests.

Responsible for directing the mechanical, electrical, and software engineers who develop Spire's commercial photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturing and test equipment. This equipment includes sun simulators for measuring solar cell and module performance, automated soldering machines for interconnecting cells, vacuum laminators for module encapsulation, and automation for other module assembly and testing processes.
