Channeled a career-long interest in preparing people for supply chain career success into a co-founded business focused on providing information and insights that enable professionals and students to up their career development game while enabling employers to find and develop the individuals and teams that are critical to continued success. Carrying those lessons into the classroom as well as a lecturer in the Supply Chain Management program at Appalachian State University, working with a great group of colleagues.

Teaching SCM3650 Operations Management and SCM3660 Principles of Supply Chain in the Marketing & Supply Chain Management department at Appalachian State University.

Writing articles for multiple supply chain magazines, developing online courses for an association, developing content for marketing pieces and articles for a supply chain software/solutions company, research/events development for a university institute, ANSI auditor of standards developers, and writing expert opinion letters to support employment petitions.

As the two parts of the title say, there was a focus on 1) development of research programming for those with an interest in the supply chain community (current and future APICS members) that need to understand the issues and opportunities that will impact their careers and their employers, and 2) development of clearly valued programming for the K-20+ academic community.Developed a highly valued, first of its kind, 2018 Supply Chain Compensation and Career report using data reported by a survey of 2700 participating SC professionals.Developed and executed a new four-round, year-long, global case competition program in collaboration with Deloitte. First year finals completed at end of September. Launched 2018-2019 program to begin second year.Identified, initiated, and negotiated successful transition of publishers for the highly valued Journal of Operations Management owned by APICS. Managed grants program, working with four research teams in 2017 to now, focusing on research projects of interest to the association. Developed and launched enhanced 2019 grants program, making RFP available in September 2018.Managed APICS standing committees: 1) Research, Innovation, and Strategy Committee, and 2) Academic Committee.

Served as undergraduate director and faculty member to grow the department and raise the quality of its incoming and outgoing students. Served as the senior design projects coordinator for the department and as a mentor to student teams. Very active in local and national warehousing, logistics, and supply chain organizations, holding regional/national board positions and presenting at national/international conferences.* Worked with local industry sponsors on senior design projects by mentoring seven multi-discipline engineering teams for large-scope, two-semester senior design course.* Developed and taught seven courses in Logistics Engineering, Facility Design and Material Handling Systems, Systems Design and Deployment, Engineering Economic Analysis, Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing, Industrial Systems Simulation, and Senior Design for Systems Engineers. Was first to offer a facilities and material handling related course for the department.* Helped department grow enrollment by over 100% in three years while maintaining quality of incoming students by serving as the undergraduate director at recruiting events and through personal interviews and evaluations of incoming students.* Developed departmental policy manual in Spring 2016 to help support a very successful accreditation board visit in Fall 2016, resulting in a full, six-year reaccreditatation of the department’s undergraduate programs.

Concurrently managed 5-8 industry, technical and educational groups to help the organizations, the companies, and the professionals in those organizations better provide solutions to their customers. Developed and executed new programs to link suppliers and customers to educate both sides regarding their mutual needs to partner on solutions. Members of groups typically ranged from Directors to CEOs and included many business development executives.* Led management teams for industry organizations such as Order Fulfillment Solutions Council, Supply Chain Execution Systems group, Conveyor and Sortations Systems group, and College-Industry Council on Material Handling Education. Developed and managed budgets in coordination with industry leader volunteers.* Developed and executed first-ever Supply Chain Execution Systems roadshow held in eight cities across the U.S. from 2001-2003. Developed program, recruited presenters and exhibitors, managed budget. * Developed and executed the Material Handling Logistics Summit in Whitefish, MT in 2007, resulting in the first MHI analysis of trends and initiatives involving end users, suppliers, consultants, and academics.* Served as part of core three-person team to develop and execute the 2013 Material Handling & Logistics Roadmap. Managed process of inviting industry professionals, developed website presence, and provided post-meeting follow up.* Managed bi-annual International Material Handling Research Colloquium, a national/international event.* Managed bi-annual Material Handling Teachers Institute, held in U.S. and Canada. * Wrote Technology Watch column for MHI newsletters, highlighting industry trends and their impact on member companies and their customers. Wrote for other publications and presented at various conferences and meetings. * Developed and executed new annual event at MHI tradeshows to educate faculty and students about the industry and opportunities for careers within the industry.
