Engineering responsibility for Philips Avent manufacturing site.

Responsible for a team of 12 NPI/LCM engineers, consisting of 3 Core competence owners, tooling engineer,process/automation engineers and injection process engineers.• Responsible for a support team of 16 technical professionals, covering Supplier Quality, NPI Quality, MasterData, Project Costing and the Test & Validation laboratory.• Making day-to-day technical decisions to ensure robust industrial solutions, based on product performance,volume manufacturing needs, floor space/real estate, timing and costs.• Driving and mentoring root cause analysis, with the use of tools such as, Fish Bone diagrams, 5 whys &DOE’s,.• Driving process improvements both in industrial solutions and internal processes. Using tools such as Valuestream mapping, to highlight wastes/ineffective activities.• Ensuring a robust handover of equipment to the Value stream mass production team.• Working with internal and external teams/stakeholders to manage interfaces to the department andexpectations.• Liaise with design team to develop robust designs for assembly and manufacture (DFA/DFM).• Working closely with marketing to understand end customer wants/needs and feedback limitations/optionsfrom production.• Support, mentor and audit department documentation, such as Risk Assessments, PFMEA’s, SOP’s, ProjectPlans, Progress reports, Resources, Presentations, etc.• Manage and track the department budget.

• Initial plan of tooling production, for lead-time calculations at quotation phase.• Final planning of tool production, through all phases of manufacture.• Calculating resource loading, for optimum machine utilisation & tooling production times.• Customer timing plans, detailing critical path of tooling manufacture.• Overseeing all I.T. equipment on site

• Generation of new business for UK and Singapore subsidiaries.• Continued development & support for existing customers, to generate new tooling business.• Estimating and quotation of tooling projects. This required calculating internal cost requirements, as well as negotiating with outside suppliers to ensure that all quotations were representative & guaranteed a manageable project when orders were secured.• Design & feasibility of customers components• Generating project timing plans for customers and planning department• Distribution of quality reports and issues to all departments and customers

• Design of new Injection & Compression mould tools.• Design of modification to existing injection & compression mould tooling.• Generation of detailed 2D engineering drawings for tooling manufacture.• Liasing with customer & suppliers, to ensure customers specification are achieved

Oversee and manage toolmaker suppliers.Check & interrogate customer components, to check for feasibility and tooling complexities, using 3D CAD systems (P.D.G.S., Delcam's DUCT software).Production of tooling & project timing plans.Attendance of mould tool proving trials.
