My job: Reel in listeners for the radio station, attract visitors to www.eaglecountryonline.com, and generate sales revenue.As news director, I have helped build Eagle Country 99.3 into THE daily news source for southeast Indiana. I'm responsible for news operations, producing and live anchoring morning newscasts, gathering news, and cultivating sources. The news stories I write for broadcast and online are laser-focused on SEI.When I arrived at the station in 2006, it had no website. Immediately noticing the lost opportunity for the radio station, I stepped up to build the station's first website from scratch. Today, I manage the content on a website that attracts well over one million views each month and has become a major source of advertising revenue for the station.Every day I engage listeners and fans as the overseer of the station’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube accounts. I've led the effort to build up an 10,000+ Facebook following and more than 3,600 Twitter followers. The radio station can now use our social media avenues to better serve advertising clients and call the attention of new ones.As sports director, I schedule, sell, produce, and announce award-winning basketball and football game broadcasts throughout the year. Costs are a consideration as I'm tasked with managing the sports staff and budget. At one point, I had the privilege of hosting a weekly high school sports talk show.In my other role as the FCC-required Chief Operator I must keep all station operations FCC compliant. I'm happy to say the station has had no inspections or fines during my tenure.I also assist with the commercial, web, and other audio production by creating effective, slick sounding radio spots and impactful website advertising images. As operations manager, the station relies on me to troubleshoot various IT problems, answer listener emails, clean facilities, and more - no job is too small.
