Leveraging over two decades of private and public sector experience, Mike Platt started Platt Strategic Consulting to offer expert guidance in the policymaking process to clients who need effective solutions. Most recently, Mike served as the Assistant Secretary for Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs at the U. S. Department of Commerce where he was the agency’s chief interface with Congress, as well as the nation’s governors and mayors. Prior to his work in the Administration, Mike built significant expertise and contacts, working with various Members of Congress, with the last five and a half years as Chief of Staff to Congressman Marsha Blackburn, who in 2018 was elected as Tennessee’s first female US Senator. Mike’s background also includes significant experience in the private sector, where he honed his skills as a client advocate for a number of dynamic and cutting-edge industries. During his time at the Recording Industry Association of America, he helped build bipartisan coalitions that aimed to protect the intellectual property of creators and music companies, while maximizing their compensation. At Tech-Net, Mike co-captained the grassroots advocacy and lobbying efforts for this national CEO-driven technology trade association.Rounding out his knowledge of national politics, Mike has been a battle-tested aid to candidates seeking elective office. As such, he managed or staffed the hard-fought aspects of political campaigns at the local, State and Federal level, executing direct mail, polling, TV ad buys, and party GOTV efforts.
