Working on the EED contract under Raytheon as a Prime Contractor, doing work in Python, C/C++, JAVA, and Linux Shell scripting. Moving into Docker and refactoring legacy code into the new Python/Docker paradigm within the SDPS team. The domain is software to handle ingest, archive, and distribution of science data related to Earth Science for NASA. Occasional forays into the science to assist with reprojection, reformatting, and subsetting (including temporal, spatial, and parameterised).

At Red Canyon Software & Engineering, I have been working with Python and other shell scripting to wrap Cloud based tools (notably AWS CLI & services using an API), and provide a layer to NASA applications to facilitate applications running in the cloud that satisfy the security and policy requirements of NASA. I also spent significant time providing support to the science data teams on the supported applications to reformat, re-project, and subset (parameterised, geographical, and temporal) available science data, notably for the SMAP and MODIS instrument teams via the Science Data Processing Segment. This work was done mostly in C and C++ with some in JAVA. Project management for all work was done through the use of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), per customer request. During this time I also took the SAFe Scrummaster training and passed the certification exam.

At Raytheon Solipsys, I have worked with C++ under Linux with the GNU suite of development utilities and with Java under Eclipse, doing development with 64 bit architectures with Java 8 and GCC version 4.9.2. Configuration Management for these activities was achieved using git and the Atlassian suite of tools for issue tracking (JIRA/Confluence). I was also required to do several product evaluations, including a large one on the Apache Cassandra Big Data Solution

In my three years at Immaculate Conception Academy, I have taught Calculus, Precalculus, Algebra II, Geometry, Statistics and an Algebra based High School Physics. Students under my instruction have taken AP examinations. The Physics class was split into an Honours class and a Conceptual Physics class, which was particularly challenging. I was instrumental in rectifying the Mathematics curriculum across all grades to bring it more in conformance with the Ohio state standards. I have also donated, built and administered a computer laboratory for the High School using LTSP with thin clients.

At Cincom, I worked on a product called Eloquence, a Document Solution Application. I worked on the component which re-formatted from MS Word into various printer languages, such as: PDF, PCL, Postscript, AFP and HTML. Most of the work was in JAVA (in Eclipse) and C (working with Microsoft Visual Studio), with some scripted batch on Windows. I was also required to become more familiar with Apache / Tomcat and several database servers, such as SQL Server and Postgres, as the application could be configured to use a variety of DB servers to support the functionality.

My duties for RIS were software development in C/C++ along with various scripting languages, SQL, and JAVA through work with Selenium and JUnit. My role spanned the full development life cycle, from design through coding, unit testing, integration testing and system verification. I ended my work there as the head of a small team of troubleshooters and testers whose responsibility it was to verify system integrity and performance and then analyze and correct defects found in the product before it was delivered to the customer. I was responsible for mentoring and training within the team and with the customer often working closely with the customer on site. The product is the EOSDIS (Earth Observing System Data and Information System) Core System (ECS). ECS is a large scale archive for satellite data pertaining to the Earth and includes Web Services for search and order.

My duties for CIRA were tightly focused on the NIMBUS-7 system, and converting raw, highly compressed data formats (such as GRIB), into data formats more commonly accepted by the scientific community (such as NetCDF). This work was all done in C++, with UML for the design phase.

During this period, I worked on the ECS system as a junior developer, and my tasks were concentrated on C++ coding. Data translation and client-server application development were the main focus, although I was additionally required to work with SQL/Sybase. I was also required to support operations at the Land Processing DAAC during the launch of the Landsat-7 satellite.
