Presenter and author of technical papers for topics that include overcoming cultural bias in manufacturing, marketing and equipment design for manufacturing efficiency. Championed Lean Manufacturing Production Systems from conception in two multi-million dollar steel cord/music wire facilities resulting in a net savings in spendable cash of over one million dollars for each entity. Obstacles included overcoming cultural biases encountered while introducing lean concepts into facilities not versed lean methodology; along with training of key personnel and strategic vision planning. The activity surmounted several technical hurdles related to fatigue improvement and included financial analysis for the manufacture of a new code. Financials included overhead costs, depreciation costs, direct costs, material costs; value added costs and energy cost related directly to manufacturing such as consumables.; Expert consultant for the design and development of two green field manufacturing facilities engineered for competing in a developed country. Responsibilities included state and national level negotiations for incentive packages, factory layout and equipment design, design of manufacturing systems, wage and incentive structures. Interaction with individuals from various countries and backgrounds is essential to the success of the projects.

Manage all aspects of multi-million dollar musical instrument string production facility. Responsibility included fostering activities and relationship between the company and its Board of Directors, members, employees, community, government and industry. Designed and developed structure for ongoing reporting, resulting in positive quality trends and the surpassing of all time sales figures for the entity.

Continuous Improvement Champion, Goodyear Tire and Rubber; Responsible for development and implementation of company wide value-stream map and inventory control system. Incorporated Lean Manufacturing methods to match product cycle times with downstream demands in order to reduce work-in-process inventory and control conversion cost within specified value streams. Success in the position required providing leadership; coaching and project management skills were also essential for enhancing productivity at the Goodyear Asheboro Steel Cord facility. These objectives were accomplished through the implementation of continuous improvement programs that were based on lean thinking and aimed at value stream linkage, quality and productivity improvements, new product implementations and value engineering projects.

Coached and led operations team from lowest ranking in production and unscheduled absences into highest-ranking team in all key metric areas (output per team member hour, lowest cost structure) within 5-year timeframe. As Process Manager was responsible for team development, overtime scheduling and cost metrics coupled with balancing material flow concerns.
