Lead all lease negotiations, architectural design, and facilities construction of a 4-building, 120,000 square foot, corporate campus to house 1500 employees during a phase of tremendous expansion in the Long Distance business unit. Campus consolidated a 1000-member workforce and included office space, LAN/WAN data center, a network trial laboratory, and a customer showcase center. Demonstrated depth of leadership talent in managing construction crews, mailroom staff, building inspectors, architects, and project managers.

Directed the operation of the 24/7 BSLD data center infrastructure through a team of 4 direct reports and a 550-member user helpdesk support staff. The infrastructure included HP and Sun mid-range servers, EMC storage devices, and an Amdahl mainframe.  Negotiated a $1 million dollar incentive on a 6-year contract for application services from an existing vendor. The contract represented the LD division’s largest contract and simultaneously the greatest cost reduction in BSLD’s history.  Directed all capacity planning and testing of the IT infrastructure to ensure system scalability that facilitated all mobile long distance traffic.

Provided strategic direction for new IT initiatives, including the consolidation of vendors and the development of the billing strategy for multiple lines of business within the long distance organization. Managed all vendors and contract negotiations. Led a vendor management initiative that consolidated 5 vendors into one outsourced provider, leveraging volume purchasing of IT services, streamlining development processes, and reducing go-to-market timeframes for new product launches.  Managed all capacity planning and testing of the IT infrastructure to insure system scalability.

Charged with leading the development of the IT infrastructure to support FCC technology requirements for entrance into the long distance market.
