Principal Responsibilities and Duties: •Provide specialist H&S Advice to the University. •Monitor and report on the implementation of H&S policy, precautions, procedures, etc.•Provide an occupational health and health & safety audit service to Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and the College Merthyr Tydfil via Service Level Agreements.Provide an Occupational Health Service to the University•Line manage the Occupational H&S Services team, which consists of 2 Health and Safety Advisers, an Occupational Health Adviser. OH technician and an administration assistant •Promote awareness in staff and students of their responsibilities for H&S.•Identify H&S training needs and organize/deliver training programmes. •Arrange for the investigation of accidents and incidents.•Prepare injury/accident statistics on an annual basis. •Audit Faculty and Departmental H&S arrangements and provide reports to Senior Management. •Monitor the implementation of the University's H&S strategy and plans and report to Senior Management Committees .•Establish and maintain effective emergency procedures and organise fire drill evacuation of University buildings. •Participate in the planning of new buildings, adaptations and alterations to existing buildings ensure works are compliant with health and safety legislation.•Lead on the health and well being strategy and Corporate Health Standard. The Director leads and manages a team of HSW specialists who are seen as the central authoritative source for the University for all HSW matters. The Director and their team also engage with the university community to provide practical guidance and support in order to embed health, safety and wellbeing into all university functions. Particular focus is on hazard management and injury prevention, early intervention strategies and legal compliance. This involves a passion and specialist knowledge to effectively manage and monitor AUT's SHW framework to minimise health, safety, financial and legislative risks.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Leadership and Commitment Manage the provision of services on health and safety concerning staff and students. Monitor health and safety compliance in Faculties and Departments.
