Primary responsibility of the role was to build a team and implement a hybrid cloud environment across private cloud providers as well as public cloud providers (AWS, GCP).

Upon hiring, I immediately had to build an engineering team from the ground up. This opportunity was unique as Hyper Networks was both an MSP as well as a local ISP for conventions in Las Vegas. In addition to staffing, I put standard operating procedures in place for IT and Engineering teams to support both external and internal customers, including security and operational improvements to email, network, firewall and CRM systems.

I was responsible for the operation of 20+ data centers (both public and private cloud hosted) globally, as well as a fully-remote team of SRE and DevOps engineers. I was able to reduce annual operating expense by 10%, but improved key metrics for SaaS offerings at the same time. Agile methodologies were implemented to give the entire organization an understanding of priorities and initiatives of the team allowing for effective triaging of projects across all business verticals.

I was responsible for security, networking, compute for internal and external SaaS gaming offerings. Systems included SQL databases, near real-time data systems and web servers. I implemented a new virtualized environment for all of these systems which was completely fault-tolerant and highly available, far exceeding the previous SLAs. I also took a significant part in the launch of a mobile sports wagering application as well as self-service kiosk for account-based wagering.

Reporting directly to the CTO of the company, my primary responsibility was to architect and oversee the operation of the infrastructure required to run a sports wagering system. I participated in SCRUM meetings to ensure alignment between engineering, IT and operations teams and was the interface to Nevada Gaming Control for technology compliance. Engineering accomplishments include the implementation and design of a geolocation system which took accuracy from < 90% to > 98%, but also removed $10,000 of monthly operating expense.Received a technology patent for work on bluetooth location systems for sports book registrations.

* Manage CVS servers for several projects, perform migrations and upgrades and handle day-to-day questions and asks related to CVS* Create a business case to migrate SCM activities from CVS to GIT, highlighting both cost and productivity benfits involved with migrating* Deploy Coverity static code analysis software, coordinate upgrades and help determine how best to utilize the tool to improve code quality* Manage lab hardware, keeping hardware up to date and planning upgrades when necessary* Use VMware to virtualize hosts into a high availability environment to ensure minimal downtime* Work closely with Security and IT teams to ensure that all critical servers adhere to security standards

* Handle the daily integration of several development lines by performing merges and investigating test failures for a multiplatform software environment (Linux, MacOS, Windows, Solaris)* Help standardize and improve development and submission processes * Develop perl scripts and tooling to help improve efficiency and accuracy of daily release engineering tasks* Identify and present metrics on the build and test system efficiency to help determine where improvements can be made

* Responsible for the day-to-day activities and priorities for 5 release engineers at multiple sites.* Acted as Release Engineering lead for the Test Automation group to answer ClearCase questions and to ensure requests are handled appropraitely for both groups.* Planned branching strategies for Software Development. Devise a system to enable incremental software updates to customers and update build environment and view profiles appropriately.* Maintained a farm of 100+ build machines. Improved setup process with Symantec Ghost and reduced setup time from several hours to several minutes.
