Michael is a Principal in EY’s People Advisory Services (PAS) practice and serves as Americas Reward leader. Michael has over 20 years of experience consulting financial services industry clients regarding people matters, with a particular focus on compensation and benefits (market practice, tax, accounting and industry-specific regulations). Michael serves asset management clients on a regular basis – designing entity to entity compensation arrangements, as well as investment professional compensation arrangements.Michael also has experience consulting clients regarding compensation and benefits in the transaction setting. Michael’s experience includes (i) consulting with respect to the application of the golden parachute rules of Code Section 280G and the nonqualified deferred compensation rules of Code Section 409A, as part of the due diligence process and (ii) structuring go-forward compensation arrangements considering business objectives, market practice, tax and accounting.Michael co-authored articles for the Journal of Taxation titled “Code Section 409A – A Major Overhaul of the Law Regarding Nonqualified Deferred Compensation”, “Proposed Regulations Provide Significant Guidance for New Nonqualified Deferred Comp. Rules” and “Section 409A Final Regs. Provide Comprehensive Guidance for Post-Transition Period”.Michael is a graduate from Fordham University School of Law and is a member of the New York State Bar. He received his LL.M in taxation from New York University School of Law.
