Developed and delivered in the classroom setting a comprehensive training and safety program for firefighters and medics allowing for a safe and secure working environment,Presented community wide fire awareness programs, fire safety programs in the school system, smoke detector installation programs, citizens CPR and first aid training for school employee training. Partnered with the public school system providing K-9 services for drug prevention, and developed school security plans and crime detection and prevention methods.Developed and implemented the Town of Sperry’s, Emergency Management program. Presented disaster preparedness information to the public via town hall meetings, social media, and news media. Developed and prepared town Emergency Operations Plan, to be used in response to disasters, such as tornados, blizzards, ice storms, wildfires, and floods, and in recovery from these events. Designed, constructed, and implemented Sperry’s first Emergency Operations Center. Using grants and donations to complete project with no cost the town.Coordinated disaster response or crisis management activities, such as ordering evacuations, opening public shelters, and implementing special needs plans and programs. Developed and performed exercises, tests and evaluations of emergency management plans in accordance with state and federal regulations. Insured the entire town was NIMS compliant.Consulted with officials from local and area governments, schools and other institutions to determine their needs and capabilities in the event of a natural disaster or other emergency.Responded to many different disasters, Hurricane Rita, Hurricane Katrina, numerous large scale wildland urban interface fires, floods, tornadoes, and winter weather events.
