In order to achieve this a transdisciplinary approach to knowledge production needs to be undertaken to support policy, planning and delivery of landscape restoration in relation to the man-made and natural drivers of change. With expertise in spatial and temporal analysis, stakeholder engagement and planning including the development landscape ecology tools and stakeholder engagement and analysis with an applied focus on integrating spatial planning and decision support tools to end users, stakeholders and government policy. This includes the Scottish Government National Planning Framework and Land use strategy. Contributed to a number of relevant EU funded projects including work-package leader on the GREENSURGE project (Green Infrastructure and Urban Biodiversity) http://greensurge.eu leading on the development of the transdisciplinary Urban Learning Labs. Led and developed a similar process within the EU SIMWOOD project on wood mobilisation http://simwood.efi.int . Other EU work includes: SUMFOREST (Implementation of Sustainable and Multifunctional Forestry) https://www.sumforest.org , MOTIVE (adaptive management) , FORSYS (decision support systems) and EFORWOOD (forest management alternatives). Work also included successful bid writing and partnership development for both EU and UK projects. Worked on collaboration with Indian Forest Service on forest landscape restoration . Other international collaboration includes to ongoing development of a partnership with Scottish and Chinese researchers and practitioners on Giant Panda habitat restoration. This includes the development of integrated land-use decision support tools in collaboration with key stakeholders that can be used to enhance the capacity to plan strategic, tactical and operational Forest Landscape Restoration interventions at regional and local scales.
