Tactics included commissioning economic research examining funding trends at federal land management agencies and an expanding capacity gap further compounded by increasing recreational use. I gathered a collaborative of NGO, rural business, and retired agency representatives for a Washington, DC fly-in to present these findings to House, Senate, Department of Interior, Council on Environmental Quality, and other federal decision-makers. I meanwhile engaged with over one hundred California non-profit, conservation corps, tribal, and agency representatives, submitted community sign-on letters, and visited potential project sites across sixteen discrete public land units. Reports and other work products provide a basis for ongoing advocacy for enhanced public land funding, staffing, and partner support. -
