Helping people develop is what I'm passionate about. I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to succeed and that a little guidance can make a huge impact on people's lives. At NimblyWise, we offer solutions that help people develop the critical skills needed for career success. Building, growing, and scaling businesses is what I excel at. The opportunity to develop businesses that can be successful financially, on the people dimension, with suppliers…all stakeholders. That's hugely motivating. This is what I do:✔️ Scale and grow companies. ✔️ Help people solve business problems and reach their goals. ✔️ Build companies that people really want to work for. That’s what I did at Credo (my last company) and that’s what I’m doing now at NimblyWise.✔️ THE THING I'M MOST PROUD OF IS THE SALE OF CREDO, AND THE 94% EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT LEVEL WE ACHIEVED IN THE YEAR WE SOLD.I’m a hopeful and inspirational problem-solver. I believe in keeping things simple, straightforward and focusing on driving value in all that I do. I pride myself on my deep entrepreneurial skills across all functional areas of business. At the same time, I recognize the importance of surrounding myself with smart leadership teams who can challenge me and enable an organization to reach its goals.I love building business plans, formulating strategies and growing teams. Solving business problems or tackling new opportunities is like doing a crossword puzzle for me; seeing how a business plan can come together, how money can be generated and how value can be created and ultimately transferred.Identifying the unique strengths of each team member is important to me and is part of what makes me successful in what I do. I try to make working for the companies I lead as meaningful as possible. I believe this is a core component of employee motivation and creating high levels of engagement. I’ve been fortunate to have a lot of great mentors, people that have taken time to really help me. The investors I've worked with over much of my career marry idealism with proven approaches to building successful businesses — we’ve operated with the shared belief that business can be a positive force for good while also generating outsized financial returns. I mentor, coach, and advise start-ups and their founders in formal and informal ways. This includes evaluating companies for potential angel investment opportunities. If you have a business challenge or problem that you are grappling with and want another set of eyes on it, contact me.

Ceo (Founder)Nimblywise Nov 2018 - PresentBoston, Massachusetts, UsThe mission of NimblyWise is to help better prepare college students and recent graduates for today’s ever changing world of work. We partner with dozens of Higher Education institutions to support them as they help students build, measure and signal their soft skill readiness.Employers continue to point out the gaps in soft skills and highlight their importance over a graduate’s major. The need for these skills is research backed: I’ve conducted dozens of interviews with CEOs and senior business leaders across industries to understand what is most critical to career success. I’ve also met with hundreds of senior administrators inside higher education to learn about how they are working to increase the focus on skill development and soft skills in particular. The result of this research has pointed to the need for our product: THE REAL-TIME LEARNING FOR PROFESSIONALS PROGRAMThe Real-Time Learning for Professionals Program supports emerging professionals after they’ve graduated and are entering the world of work so that they can learn how to solve problems independently, get unstuck when they are facing unfamiliar situations and be more adaptable. I’ve built a team of business professionals, corporate trainers, coaches, instructional designers and technologists who are dedicated to making this a powerful learning experience designed to rapidly advance someone's professional development. We have also developed an assessment instrument to measure a person’s real-time learning abilities. This program is targeted at the HR, talent development and corporate learning functions inside companies, and is also offered directly to consumers. -

CfoEpic Software Development Feb 2018 - Aug 2019Following the sale of Credo Reference, I took on a part-time operating role at EPIC Software Development, where I served as the CFO from February 2019 through August 2020. This was a critical juncture in the 75 person company’s evolution. I managed all aspects of the company’s finances, including the day-to-day accounting operations, monthly closing process, tax management, budgeting and financial analysis.I also led corporate development efforts to help better understand the M&A landscape in the customer software development industry and position for potential future acquisition activity. By leveraging my existing network to build relationships, I developed new business opportunities. I coordinated with corporate counsel to manage legal matters. I led the selection of a new marketing firm and designed and implemented new systems to track and manage our sales pipeline activity.

Ceo (Acquired By Infobase Publishing)Credo: Building Information Skills For Lifelong Success Aug 2008 - Nov 2018Boston, Massachusetts, UsIn the summer of 2008, I became the CEO where I led the company’s rapid growth. Our capital efficiency, the high proportion of our revenues coming from subscriptions, and the exceptionally strong renewal rates drove significant gains in shareholder value. I systematically addressed each area of the business as we scaled the organization. ✔️ Implemented an outsourced lead generation system that dramatically increased the volume of new sales opportunities and improved the repeatability of the selling process. ✔️ Built strong business networks in the library, publishing and information industries.✔️ Transformed the technology stack and redesigned the technology organization to make better use of offshore resources. This reduced costs and increased speed to market of new features. Credo Reference won numerous awards for the quality and success of its products and services. We carefully tracked both Customer Satisfaction and Employee Engagement. I’m proud that the net promoter score was above 60 and over 90% of employees were engaged as measured by Quantum Workplace- the engine behind Best Places to Work.In 2014, I architected a new growth agenda which expanded the company’s focus beyond the reference market and resulted in the creation of a new line of information literacy products and services. I led the process to sell Credo Reference in 2018. This included negotiating the LOI, managing all aspects of the due diligence process and selecting and managing outside advisors - lawyers, accountants, etc. This included managing the complexity of Credo Reference being a UK company and having a US buyer. As part of the Credo Reference sale, Credo Education was spun out as a separate company, which resulted in a rebrand to NimblyWise. -
CfoCredo: Building Information Skills For Lifelong Success Mar 2006 - Aug 2008Boston, Massachusetts, UsAs the part-time CFO at Credo Reference, I worked with the CEO to implement a business restructuring to align ongoing expenses with revenues and close the financial gap while continuing to grow. -
CfoCoreweb, Inc. Apr 2005 - Feb 2009Woburn, Massachusetts, UsI joined CoreWeb to lead the development of their golf technology startup, 3rdShot. I developed the initial proof of concept for the software and service offering. We successfully launched pilots of our technology in the summer of 2005 and refined our go-to market approach based on market feedback. While working at 3rdShot, I was also working as the CFO and COO of CoreWeb. I headed up the financial management of the company and also managed the operations of the consulting practice. This involved analyzing our project pipeline and backlog and directing the planning and staffing of client projects. The consulting skills I developed while working in my prior role at Global Insight were invaluable in helping me drive value at CoreWeb. As the trusted right hand person to the CEO, I was instrumental in stabilizing the consulting practice, increasing profitability and reducing our need for external capital to support the ongoing growth of the business. We successfully transitioned the business to rely on outsourced software developers to do much of the project work. We coupled this with strong internal project management design capabilities. This approach proved to be a more sustainable and cost-effective business model for the company. At the end of 2005, CoreWeb’s largest investor, 2Enable Partners (called MF Limited until 2016), asked me to help them at another one of the startup companies in their portfolio called Credo Reference. -
Senior ConsultantGlobal Insight Apr 1998 - Apr 2005Lexington, Ma, UsThe first 8 years of my career were spent at Global Insight. I quickly advanced from doing research and economic forecasting to join the consulting side of the business. With the departure of the head of our consumer markets consulting practice, I had the opportunity to take on a new challenge that involved business development responsibilities and managing client engagements from initial sales outreach through project delivery. I worked with several large brands including Coca-Cola, Porsche, and Lowes. I focused on projects that helped consumer companies forecast market demand as part of their strategic planning and market segmentation initiatives. While at Global Insight, I completed my MBA at Babson graduating summa cum laude. The entrepreneurial mindset and finance skills I developed were extremely helpful in terms of complimenting my undergraduate training in economics and my real-world experience consulting to large Fortune 500 companies. Upon completing my MBA I decided to look for a role in a smaller organization where I could “get my hands dirty” and have more of a direct impact on shaping the direction of a company.
