As CTO I was responsible for all things regarding technology at this software product company.This included both internal systems, software products and services core to the business, technical staff mentoring, and sales support.This was a during a period of significant change for the business where they were strategically transforming the business focus, to cloud and mobile apps for existing and new customers.This presented many challenges, and whilst still conducting existing BAU work, I rebuilt the development team, taking over the maintenance of the existing products to support, direct and mentor my new team to focus on the new product stream. To do this I progressively adapted Agile processes to the business to fine tune lean processes within the team to achieve our goals. The new result is a development capability where I have been able to leave the business in good hands knowing that they are now in a position to follow the transformation road map I have developed, compete in the mobile app and cloud space for new and existing customers, and complete the transition to completely cloud based internal infrastructure and reduce operating costs.

I provided system enhancements, maintenance and DevOps 3rd level support to VectorTrax. An intranet system and offline mobile app system used by outsourced pest control operators for tracking infectious disease carrying pests. I implemented changes to the system to improve the usability and reliability of the system and changing business requirements. I also was part of a small team to develop a new module for lab users to record lab test results.In addition to this I also utilised my technical knowledge and experience to analysed and make key technical advise on and develop road maps for replacing or upgrading several other key existing legacy systems. These included a 3rd party health and safety system, 3rd party GIS BI system, and cattle ear tag product purchase web site.

As a Senior Developer Contractor I worked on web based systems for 2 customers.The first was a intranet site for a car leasing company to manage out-soured vehicle maintenance work on their fleet of cars. In this role I mentored junior developers to maintain this system, and implemented key functional changes in line with their changing business requirements.The other was an on site placement at the NZ Institute of Charted Accountants where I worked on web site maintenance of their CRM system (Site Core), and also a new initiative to build ETL's from this system to a data warehouse using MS SQL Stored Procedures.

The MilkHub product provides a management front end to dairy cow information received from sensors installed in milking shed all around New Zealand enabling farm managers to analyse cow performance in near real time, and input interventions from anywhere. My role involves expanding this system to incorporate data from business partners, and national data repositories, provide branded front end to that data, and incorporate new UI features, enhancements and technologies. This challenging role required me to work autonomously in a dynamic environment.Skills used: Visual Studio 2010, .Net 4.0, C#, Linq, Telerik ASP Ajax, XSL, FO, Phantomjs, amCharts.

I worked on 3 products: The core windows ResMan application, the new web case management application, and prototype Mobile web front end to ResMan.ResMan is a Recruitment application that has evolved into a generic and highly configurable case management system.I worked on converting it from VB6 to .Net, and rearchitecting it to serve as the business and data layer to a web application and web services. Using this I built a prototype Mobile Web Application using Visual Web Gui.

As a consultant I worked for a number of customers using a variety of different MS based products. These projects varied both in scale and the role I was involved in. From core enterprise systems with > 1,000 users, to < 12 users. Including: Data migrations, support, planning, requirement analysis, estimation. Windows, Web and Mobile, VB6, .Net, ASP, TRIM (EDRMS), SQL Server, and Sharepoint.

Developer on 2 projects:PMIS (Property Management Information System) for Dept. of Education using: VB6, SQL Server. Rural Loan Assessment system for National Bank using VB6.

Started as Graduate Developer writing IBA (the core Patient Management System) reports for Hutt Hospital.Went on to write health related apps using MS Access, and the as a Senior Developer using PowerBuilder, enhanced a Helpdesk System, and lead a small team building a Laboratory Information System product.Also Senior Dev in a larger team building a new Patient Information System using VB6.
