Mike Vaverka Work Experience Details
  • Nasa Jet Propulsion Laboratory
    Facilities Electrical Engineer
Nasa Jet Propulsion Laboratory Aug 2016 - Present
    Pasadena, Ca
The task of the Facilities Electrical Engineer include: Design new and modify existing offices and laboratories to accommodate the changing needs of the various spacecraft programs. This involves existing electrical distribution systems from the building transformers through distribution panels to wall outlets and lighting fixtures. This requires design, review and preparation of documentation for a wide variety of moderately complex facility modifications and construction projects using in house and contract personnel. The Facilities Electrical Engineer must apply industry best practice work methods, standards, and principles to emerging new situations, and will interface with JPL clients, outside engineering consultants, partner JPL organizations, facilities construction and maintenance personnel and facilities design team members. He will participate on or lead project teams; will provide work direction or guidance to a group of employees; will work closely with architects and mechanical engineers to support the JPL Move and Modify Facilities process to provide full-service planning/design/construction coordination with Facilities Maintenance, Facilities Construction Administration, Facilities Stands & Compliance, as well as partner organizations - Safety, Acquisitions, Security, Telecommunications and Information Technology. As a current, licensed C-10 Electrical Contractor, and also a degreed Electrical Engineer & former Journeyman Wireman commercial electrician, plus with 25+ years in the avionics industry as a systems engineer, this position is the logical combination of skill sets to get the job done for JPL. I couldn't be more grateful to be here, working with a competent, professional staff. The work environment is structured, energetic and collaborative. When you walk the lab and meet the people who work here you realize there is a vibe that is only JPL.
