I code for fun.No really, I do. I've been fascinated by coding since my school days when I would studiously type code from a magazine taking me hours. I loved it. I upgraded my home computer and learnt how to write files to micro-drives using pipes. It was like magic. Later in University I had to learn Pascal as part of my degree and was proud of the code filling pages of the dot matrix printer paper they gave us.The experience was a good skill to have as it got me my first job. Soon after I found a new job in West London and was introduced to corporate sized computers and I was in my element. A manager quickly noticed me and promoted me to "Build Engineer" and I have not looked back since, moving on to major clients like Barclays, City Law firms and the BBC.My achievements include: • 25+ years of End-User Technologies and delivering COE Windows builds. • clients such as the National Crime Agency, BBC, Barclays Bank, and UK HM Court Services. • IT solutions that have saved costs from £3000 up to £130000. • Single-handedly implementing an SCCM-based Windows 7 build for a high security environment. Throughout my career I have found my natural empathy (emotional intelligent) to be one of my greatest strengths. I understand a simple point that often gets lost in technology: users are people too.It means being there to solve problems, but help people to understand things themselves and to show them how to do things they did not realise was possible. Things like "pinning" the Company Portal to the Windows taskbar lets you right-click and sync in 2 clicks, instead of 8; or adding a section break instead of a page break lets you change the header and footers per section or simply sharing a good website like this one: Prod-Chart.This skill helps me to intuitively anticipate things the business needs, before they realise it. For Y2K I started an intranet site and spent a weekend in the office building it. When my manager found out he got me to show the Account manager who was delighted and gave me a modest promotion. A recent example was optimizing Intune AppLocker rules by 90%. The CEO was so impressed he made it a standard product for clients.I now work in Azure and Modern Management. I specialize in Hybrid-cloud migrations, Autopilot builds, and security management with a mix of PowerShell, Co-Pilot AI and a dash of magic. Now I'm ready. Ready for a new role.
