I am a healthcare business consultant and author of the book-Medicated malnourishment. A pharmacist, with master’s degrees in pharmaceutical analysis, nutritional medicine, clinical oncology and currently completing a Professional Doctorate examining the effects of medications on micronutrient status. This led to the commercialisation of an award winning, on-line personalised nutrition platform assessing the impact of lifestage, lifestyle and diet on micronutrient status as well as uniquely integrating any cumulative effects of all UK medications into a sophisticated algorithm delivering recommended changes to diet and where necessary supplementation. My career began in sales and marketing with GSK and then in natural products with Professor Horrobin’s team-alongside Nobel laureate, Sir James Black-responsible at Scotia Pharmaceuticals-for developing medicines licensed for clinical use based on essential fatty acids. During my stewardship as MD, the company developed a global, best-selling, range valued at around $500m at IPO. Subsequently, I worked as a business consultant to blue chip organisations including Genzyme, Galen, BASF and UK based nutritional supplement companies. Current consultancy portfolio includes companies in UK, Ireland, Canada, Japan, Korea, Germany, Norway and Australia. Member of NHS clinical trials ethics committee, Royal College of Medicine and Chair of the Guild of Health Writers. Research capabilities include design and implementation of clinical trials; new product design and development; technical dossier preparation; registration advice; and international strategic brand consultancy.I contribute to consumer and health publications and my natural product research was used to promote the scientific conference of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, resulting TV, national, local radio and print coverage. Recently presented at symposia in Canada, US, Hong Kong, Holland, Ireland, Denmark, Greece, Vitafoods; FIE and HIE. Highly commended in the 2019 UK Antibiotic Guardianship awards sponsored by NHS England.
