The Oasis Adolescent Center provides residential treatment services for adolescent males and females ages 13-17 with substance abuse and behavioral health disorders. The center provides individual, family, and group counseling services. One of the many programs that the Oasis Adolescent Center uses to help their clientele is Social Circus. The circus arts are an ideal way to reach and connect with at-risk youth. Whether one excels in strength, balance, dexterity, coordination, or possesses other skill sets, success can be found among the circus arts. Success results in confidence, which leads to higher aspirations and a desire for a better life. In addition to this, circus training often requires intense teamwork. Cirque du Monde is a social circus program created by Cirque du Soleil, which targets at-risk youth. It combines circus techniques together with educational social intervention to help young people. Social circus aims to help these young people get their self-confidence back, make them realize their strengths, and discover their hidden talents. Mike teaches a wide variety of circus skills for Cirque du Monde... including stilt walking, unicycle riding, juggling, plate spinning, rolling globe, and clowning.
