Director Of Engineering
Current• Manages the daily activities of the Design & Engineering Department which include but are not limited to, project management, design review, revision control and document control.• Oversees the Design Lab and is responsible for facilitating small production run orders and prototype requests, inventory management of raw materials and verifying orders are produced to customer and industry requirements.• Assists Sales in working directly with customers to provide design suggestions that provide cost savings and/or better overall performance.• Develops tools in Excel for internal use such as costing and pricing calculators, machine time estimators and material usage calculators. • Conducts industry standard performance tests on packaging designs to verify they will perform in various shipping and storage environments.• Calculates costs for various projects and puts together estimates to be submitted.• Sets up parts in the company ERP system which includes assigning the Bill of Materials to items and calculating material costs.• Works with our finished goods suppliers on design strategies to ensure parts are produced accurately and within the requested ETA.• Works with Marketing to produce graphical illustrations for use in various sales literature and PowerPoint presentations.• Creates and manages Quality documentation for the Design & Engineering department which include various forms and work instructions.• Previously had experience overseeing the Quality department and assisted with activities that promoted the continual improvement of the Quality program and Quality Management System.
