I was selected to build and lead a new Enterprise Data Governance approach and function for Westpac New Zealand. A highly enjoyable role focused on building the team, mobilising and delivering technical data governance solutions and driving cultural change.The role interfaced with all areas of the organisation and the key successes were: -• Built a team of c55 colleagues and c5 Chapters• Considerably uplift in Data management capabilities (internal survey results increased from 2.3 to 3.1 over 12 months).• Strong Team culture and values to deal with complexity and enterprise challenge (learning how to play). This enabled the emergence of the strong technical solutions.• Team Influence and Network –purposeful communication and influencing campaigns to drive a mature data culture. • Collaboration and Partnering across enterprise stakeholders and external suppliers (E&Y, Dataxchange and KPMG) to drive results.

A multi-dimensional role across Data, Reporting, Analytics and Change projects. This involves leading multiple and distinct teams of c35 colleagues across a dynamic and changing environment.Key achievements in this role:• Delivering improvements to Regulatory analytics and insight specifically during Covid• Delivered improved Data Assurance via Lineage Automation, control processes, data quality reporting and a data function. • Influenced and designed a strategy to leverage the regulatory agenda to uplift data capabilities. This included significant investment (c$25m) in new analytical infrastructure, strong central data office and data quality capabilities in the distribution units. • Chosen to lead a critical remediation workstream for the CFO / CRO (2019). • Winner of WNZL innovator of the year in 2019 and promoted in 2020 and 2021.

United Kingdom

I led a function of multiple teams including Business Analysis, Innovation Unit, Project Management and a specific regulatory team. This function delivered the transformation of analytical and data capabilities across multiple stakeholder groups. Designed the strategic approach, created the delivery team and delivered BCBS239 compliance for Consumer Finance Motor division. This was a challenging regulatory delivery for a key growth business unit. Working with stakeholder groups to design and deliver a large scale simplification agenda for key analytical processes across Retail Risk Function (c750 colleagues). This included the building of Tableau dashboards, automation and re-design of analytics, part of an offshoring exercise with the simplification team based in India.Built and led an Agile Innovation team that collaborated with external partners and start ups. This resulted in a pioneering internal SAS application used across a c1000 colleague community that enabled dynamic automation functionality. I created the engagement, communication and Agile branding strategy that was delivered via internal social media apps.Led and developed multiple progressive, high performing Business Analysis and Data engineering teams including offshore colleagues.

Managed a diverse change delivery function (c50FTE) including offshore colleagues in multiple locations. The team had a challenging delivery environment.Key achievements:Embedded a clear, consistent strategy of behavioural expectations in the team that focused on internal customer outcomes, improved delivery controls and transparency. The successful cultural change and performance uplift came about through consistent messaging of strategy, behavioural expectations and clear performance measures. Transformed the organisational design and stakeholder engagement channels whilst focusing on building change capabilities in sustainable.
